Fuel from banana peel

The biogas factory is an important element in making a cycle-based waste management. The factory will transform food waste into biogas and bio fertilizer. EGEs biogas factory will produce app. 6 million cubic metres of biogas, which corresponds to 4.1 million litres of diesel when upgraded to fuel. Using biogas as fuel offers global environmental benefits, as this replaces and reduces fossil CO2 emissions. This flow chart shows how the process works.

Cycle-Based waste management in Oslo

Circular waste managementCycle-based waste management is the most recent innovation step during more than 100 years of waste management history. In order to realise this project, the City of Oslo has developed the building programme EGE 2010, which includes building plants for cycle-basedwaste management and production of renewable energy.

"EGE towards 2010" (pdf) - Read about the history behind, the climate perspective, the planned factories and status of the building process.

"Cycle-Based Waste Management in Oslo" (pdf) is a presentation giving an overview.
